Dirt and Dust - Just about everything that we do will generate dirt and dust. Removing roofing material is a dirty job; we take every precaution to cut back on the intrusions of dirt and dust into your home. It is impossible to eliminate it 100%. With your aid we can make your roofing project as clean as possible.
-
We will cover anything and everything that you direct us to.
-
Please let us know about any family heirlooms or prized possessions with which we need to be "extra" careful.
-
If your attic has any of these items we suggest that you cover them with a new tarp or several sheets.
-
Due to the heavy material and excessive nailing and banging we suggest that you check all of your wall hangings to ensure secure mounting.
-
All landscaping shall be covered; tarps shall be draped from the gutter lines and extending to the ground. If necessary we shall lean bounce boards against the exterior walls to prevent falling debris from striking the house. (Some landscape damage may occur i.e. Grass flattened where shingles lay, tracks from constant traffic, and maybe an occasional flower or bush branch damaged. These are items that we take every precaution to eliminate, but cannot always 100% guarantee).
-
Excessive landscaping shall be protected by planking and plywood if necessary.
-
Ensure all windows are closed and ask your neighbors to do the same.
-
All lawn furniture should be at least 35 ft away from the house; if you need assistance in moving them one of our staff can assist you.
Hours of Work – Our working hours are typically 7:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Monday through Friday, unless other arrangements are made. The presence of an operations manager is dictated by the schedule and workload on your job. Every job has a lead mechanic. In an effort to make your job more convenient for you, the following questions should be answered, and any changes communicated to the operations manager.
• What time is too early for arrival?
• What time is too late?
• Will someone be home in case scope of job changes?
• Are there any upcoming events at your home that we should be aware of that affect scheduling (start and complete time)
Roof mounted structures – If your roof has any roof mounted structures we always will recommend that they should be removed i.e. satellite dishes, antennas, A/C units. If it is not possible we will remove the unit and place it on the ground. Once our roofing work is completed, you should have the individual company who installed the structure come and reinstall the unit.
Access – In some cases we will need to be provided with electrical power. If this is necessary and no one will be home we will need to be able to access the premises or an extension cord can be left out of a window or door. We prefer, if possible, to have access to the driveway for our trucks and equipment. All of our equipment is loaded and removed from your site every day unless you grant us permission to keep it there overnight.
Trash Disposal - The placement of a dumpster is necessary in most cases. Some townships require the dumpster to be placed in the driveway. If this is the case, we will place wood blocks or plywood under the wheels of the dumpster.
Lunch and Breaks – Our men take their breaks around 9-10am and then lunch around 12PM. They will also take necessary breaks when the climate deems necessary.
Restroom – If at all possible a restroom should be designated to be available to the workers or, if preferred, a portable toilet will be set up at a suitable location established between Walker Roofing Inc. and the homeowner (this may result in an additional charge).
Clean up - It is our intention to leave your job in a "broom clean" condition at the end of each day. Whatever is torn off your roof shall be completely picked up and all trash and debris shall be put in the provided dumpster. At the completion of the job we shall rake, sweep, use a blower, clean the gutters, use a magnet for nails, and detail the property to the best of our ability.
Delays – Should there be delays in the commencement of your project due to outside sources we shall reschedule the start date at your convenience. The main source of delays would be weather driven.
Children - A construction site could pose various dangers to children. We ask that children not be allowed on the construction site, especially during work hours. When access to the home is required please flag down one of our staff to ensure safe entry and exit.
Pets - Remodeling can be a trying experience on your pet. Many new faces will be coming and going. We will try to accommodate your pet as best as possible. Please inform us what to do if your pet "gets out" and any gates/doors that need to be kept closed.
Communication - On all jobs we will have a crew supervisor who will run the day to day aspect of your job. Also our company’s Operations Manger will be on and off your job site throughout the course of the day. All questions regarding your project should be forwarded to the Operations Manger and if he/she is not on the job site you will be provided with a direct line to reach the Operations Manager. Our Operations Manager is always available to you.
Conduct - All workers on your job are required to keep their shirts on at all times, to have no loud radios, no foul language and no disrespect to customers or their neighbors. Any such incident is cause for immediate termination.
Change Orders - Change orders will be priced and presented for approval prior to commencement of additional work. (If this is not possible we must be able to contact you if you are not going to be home). Any deviation from the contract should be addressed immediately to avoid any misunderstandings and to help hold down costs. Please be advised that any change may interrupt the rhythm of the work and will result in a delay. Payment is due upon acceptance of change order. Many times when removing layers of roofing material there are areas where walls and roof lines meet. There are instances where cosmetic repairs may be necessary. These repairs are not foreseen at the time of estimating and may in some instances be cause for additional charges.
Yard Signs - We would like your permission to set one of our signs in your yard. The majority of our business comes from "word - of - mouth" advertising. This sign not only helps our company generate business, but it also gives your neighbors our phone number in case they have any problems or concerns regarding our activity in the neighborhood. The sign also serves as a marker for material deliveries.
Pictures - It is our intention to take pictures of each project prior to the start of the job and at its conclusion. We also use pictures as documentation when the customer is not available and we need to make repairs right away. These photos aid in customer satisfaction and let you see the before and after.
Payments of Invoices - Invoices will be mailed or delivered by a Walker Roofing representative and payment is due upon receipt. You may mail in the payment, drop it by the office, or feel free to give it to the crew leader. Prompt payment is
expected and appreciated as well as necessary to avoid any disruption in work.
